President Ford died yesterday, who was President of the United States despite never having been elected either President or Vice President. America is mourning him, and more than one pundit has regretted his narrow defeat in his re-election bid. The Telegraph muses about the influence of comedians on this election, and the unfairness of the caricature chosen for him by America’s public entertainment.
I am reminded of John Major’s fate. He has still not escaped the – to my mind grossly unfair – portrayal of him by Spitting Image as ‘grey’ and boring.
