I hope it goes without saying that most environmentalists are not extremists, and that I don’t mean to suggest they are. But I worry about some environmentalists – the ones who say things like this:[1]

Curing a body of cancer requires radical and invasive therapy, and therefore, curing the biosphere of the human virus will also require a radical and invasive approachIt won’t be easy but then it’s better than the alternative.

We need vast areas of the planet where humans do not live at all and where other species are free to evolve without human interference.

The trouble with such muses (and I don’t know how seriously or literally the author takes these words) is that some people do take them seriously. If the next wave of terrorism is “green” and “animal rights” motivated, then we will not be able to say we did not have plenty of warning.[1] the link, if you want it, is http://www.seashepherd.org/editorials/editorial_070504_1.html, but I refuse to make it clickable.
