In an interesting choice of words, John Edwards “suspends” his bid for the Democratic nomination, so that “History can blaze its path”. One can usually trust Jon Stewart for insightful comment not only about American politics, but the media coverage of it. Yesterdays segment is particularly good: And if you enjoyed that, you’ll enjoy this follow-up segment well.
I recently came across a song by Toby Keith which is titled, “American Soldier”. One of the things I find interesting about the lyrics is that, in the version on his album Shock’n Y’all at any rate (there are various other versions of the song), it is unclear until fairly close to the end of the song that it is about a soldier at all.
